Biographical history
Ted Rettig was born in Rheine, West Germany in 1949. He came to Canada in 1953. He attended York University in Toronto, Ontario and received a B.A. in 1974 and an M.F.A. in 1977. He also received a Bachelor of Education in 1988 from the University of Toronto. Artistically, Rettig is primarily known as a sculptor but also creates works on paper. He currently works in Kingston at Queen's University and lives in Toronto, Ontario.

Scope and content
The fonds consists of records which reflect Rettig's work over a 50 year period. The records document both his personal and artistic life from his school years and training up until his practice as a professor and established artist in the community. The fonds consists of three series: Diaries/Journals; Miscellaneous and Sketches/Designs.
