Allgemeine Anmerkung
Saint James' Church is located on the south side of Union Street between Barrie and Arch Streets. The parish of Saint James' was organized in 1843. The cornerstone for the church was laid 28 September 1944 and the building was opened for service on 14 September 1845. The church was designed by W. Coverdale and the original structure was very small with only two rows of pews and a small chancel. It has a Norman tower with a small spire on each corner. In 1888, the building was widened on each side and a chancel, organ chamber and three Gothic porches were added. Further alterations were made in 1926.
