William D. (Bill) Thomson was born in Toronto in 1926, raised and educated in Port Credit, Ontario, and served in the Royal Canadian Naval Reserve at the end of World War II. Following discharge, he studied Animal Science at the Ontario Agricultural College in Guelph, graduating in 1950. He worked in veterinary and chemical sales and service throughout Western Ontario. Thomson has been a member of many railway organizations, including the Canadian Railroad Historical Association, for which he served as President of the Kingston Division. He has written regular articles for the publication "Kingston Rail."

Donald R. (Don) McQueen was born in Toronto in 1938, and raised in Brockville, Ontario. He received his Bachelor of Arts in History from Queen's University (1963), and moved to London, Ontario to teach in secondary school. He was a charter member of the Forest City Railway Society, which formed in 1968, and served as the editor of the organization's monthly publication, "Tempo Jr."

Collection consists of material acquired during the research and writing of the history of the Canadian Locomotive Company, entitled, "Constructed in Kingston: A History of the Canadian Locomotive Companies, 1854-1968". Included are membership cards and a company medal belonging to William (Bill) Cox.
