Doctor Lorimer John Austin (1880-1945) M.A., M.Ch.(Cantab), F.R.C.S.(Eng.), F.R.C.S. (C). Lorimer Austin was born in London, England, educated at Cambridge and trained as a surgeon at the London Hospital. He served in the Red Cross and Royal Army Medical Corps in the Great War and in 1920 he joined Queen's Faculty of Medicine as Professor of Clinical surgery. From 1923-1945 he was a Professor of Surgery. Austin was also a Fellow of Royal Society of Medicine, Hunterian Society, American College of Surgeons and president of the Ontario Medical Association. Prominent in community affairs, he was a winner of Queen's Montreal Medal for meritorious contribution to the honour of Queen's. He died at Kingston on 20 March 1945.
