On the lid are three large silver figures emblematic of the flight of time. The inside is lined with heavy white satin. The outside casket is of solid oak and also displays heavy silver handles. The casket is an exact facsimile of that of the late President Garfield." The wreath of rosed was inscribed: "From Her Majesty Queen Victoria in memory of her faithful and devoted servant".
