Historique de la conservation
This sous-fonds forms part of the Kirkpatrick-Nickle legal collection. The documents came from the law firm of Nickle and Nickle, which was founded by Thomas Kirkpatrick in 1828, and which continued under various names (Kirkpatrick Nickle) and with various partners until 1968. The Yeomans estate papers were deposited, along with the papers of other clients of the firm, in Queen's University Archives during the 1960's.
Portée et contenu
The sous-fonds consists of business papers, and those other papers connected with the settling of Yeoman's estate. There is little of a personal or even professional nature in this material. The records have been arranged chronologically within the following record groupings: correspondence; bills and receipts; promissory notes; payment notes; assessment notices; accounts; legal papers; land papers; estate papers; and, miscellaneous records. Of particular note is a letter written on November 8, 1844 concerning Dr. Horace Yeomans and signed by Thomas Kirkpatrick and John A. Macdonald.
