Ewart Arden Prince was born in, or around, 1925 in Kingston, Ontario to Professor Albert Ewart Prince and his wife Beatrice. E. A. Prince attended Kingston Collegiate Vocational Institute and Queen's University, and went on to complete a Masters degree at the University of Toronto and a Doctorate at the London School of Economics. His professional career included working in the office of Prime Minister Saint Laurent and in overseas broadcasting for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. His academic career took Dr. Prince to Bishop's University in Lennoxville, Quebec where he taught Political Science and served as President of the Faculty Association. Dr. E. A. Prince passed away February 8, 1981.
Historique de la conservation
This material was donated to Queen's University Archives by Doreen Webster (sister of E. A. Prince). It came out of the house of her parents in 1985 and was presumed to be the papers of her father, A. E. Prince, it was only upon further examination that it was discovered to be that of E. A. Prince.
Portée et contenu
The fonds consists of material from E. A. Prince's early life in Kingston where he attended high school and university. The material spans the Prince's years at Kingston Collegiate Vocational Institute, including musical programs from the K.C.V.I. Glee and Drama Clubs, notes from classes and records from his involvement in Scouting. The University material reflects Prince's continued involvement in the arts - concert programs, theatrical programs - as well as his academic career. Also included are letters between Prince and his family and friends.
