Biographische Angaben
Elizabeth B. Sinclair was born in Brighton Ontario, the daughter of Ernest Broadbridge and the former Rose McPhail. Educated in Canada and the United States she held a MA degree and was married to the late Dr. R.G. Sinclair, former Crain Professor of Biochemistry at Queen's University. The Sinclair family moved to Collins Bay in 1936 and were active members of the community from that time. After her husband's death Mrs. Sinclair worked, first as a Secondary School teacher and then as a Librarian at the Kingston Public Library. When Mrs. Sinclair died in 1963 she left two sons, Dr. D.G. Sinclair of Queen's University, The Reverend D.W. Sinclair and a daughter Mrs. H. Elizabeth Stephens R.N.
Bestandsgeschichte
Eingrenzung und Inhalt
The fonds consists of manuscripts and research material used in a talk that Elizabeth Sinclair gave on the history of the village of Collins Bay to the Kingston Historical Society. There are two notebooks, one of which is probably a rough draft and the other the text for her talk to the Historical Society. There is also a typewritten manuscript that probably went to the editor of "Historic Kingston". Finally, there are a number of notes and papers used by Mrs. Sinclair when preparing her paper. These include notes on land ownership in the area, notes on the book, The Baptists in Upper Canada, a one page history of the village by M.H. Grass, dated 1916 and a history of the Jubilee Woman's Institute.
