Biographical history

Dr. William Alfred Jones was born in Aisla Craig, Ontario in 1892. He graduated in medicine at the University of Western Ontario. He worked at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario for forty-one years. He was a professor of radiology and also worked at Kingston General Hospital as Chief of the Radiological Service. Upon retiring from the University in 1960, he continued in private practice. Dr. Jones served in both World Wars and received the O.B.E., V. D., C. D. and was a Commander of the Order of Saint John. He also served as president of both the Ontario Medical Association and the Canadian Association of Radiologists. Dr. William Alfred Jones died on September 24 1974.

Custodial history

"Cherubism: An Exhibit 1931-1967" was transferred from Bracken Library to the Archives.

Scope and content

This fonds consists of published papers, photographs and notes for his research on Cherubism, a curious disease occuring in a Kingston family. Included is an album compiled by Jones which was housed in the Medical Library at Queen's entitled "Cherubism: An Exhibit 1931-1967". There is also a biographical sketch of Lorimer John Austin.
