Item is an electro-steel engraved image of Thomas Clarkson, born 1760 - died 1846, English abolitionist and lead campaigner against the slave-trade in the British Empire. He helped found the Society for Effecting the Abolition of the Slave Trade and helped pass the Slave Trade Act of 1807, which ended the British slave trade. Engraved by J. Cochran from a painting by S. Lane. Published by Fisher, Son & Co. (London & Paris).
