Custodial history

This letter was received by John Sigsworth of Harrowsmith, Ontario. The letter was kept in a pigeon-hole desk in the front lobby of the Sigsworth home on Petworth Road until the death of John Sigsworth. The letter, along with the house and the furniture, was inherited by Dexter Sigsworth on the condition that Hester Anne, wife of John, could live there with her children, until her death. When Lorena Sigsworth, daughter of John, sister of Dexter, left the family home in 1918 she took with her a pine blanket box with a hidden compartment. Upon Lorena's death her daughter and son inherited the blanket box finding this letter in that compartment. They donated the material to Queen's University Archives on September 30th, 1998.
