Plans and elevations of a frame cottage. The land, known as the Belts Lot, was leased to George and Orlando Johnston on Aug 17, 1880 for 21 years. At the time, there was a house valued at $500. on the property. Orlando was a florist, and presumably used the land for related purposes. He took over the lease completely in 1884. OGJ appears in the city directories at this location in 1892-93, although he did not purchase the land from his landlord until 1895. The house may date from 1895, but comparison with dating samples 1071(b) and 1125 support the date of 1892-3. If the greenhouse was built it has since been destroyed. The verandah has been closed in, and the cresting, ironwork and some of the spoolwork are gone.
