Biographical history

R. Ormand Benson was a Queen's student (Commerce '48) who served in the Second World War and came back to Kingston to resume his studies,moving into the Lasalle Barracks residence with his wife. Lasalle Barracks had been used by the Canadian Womens' Army Corps personnel until the end of the war and were then acquired by Queen's University by agreement with the Federal Government and its Crown Corporation, Central Mortgage and Housing Limited in 1946 and turned into married students' residences.

The fonds consists of pictures of life at Lasalle Barracks and a written memoir of the years that Benson spent there.
