Biographical history
Sgt. Ernest T. Handyside was born in Ottawa, Ontario on 27 June 1892. A carpenter by trade, Handyside enlisted the army in February 1915. He was killed in action on 29 July 1916.
Custodial history
Photographs originally belonged to Sgt. E.T. Handyside, who sent them to Mrs. R.J. Vogan before his death.

Items are photographs cut from a photo album showing members of the 2nd Battalion, No. 2 Company, No. 8 Platoon that were commanded by Capt. George Taylor Richardson when he was killed in action during World War I.
