History

Mount Allison University is a United Church-affiliated (but secular) primarily undergraduate liberal arts university, established at Sackville, New Brunswick on January 19, 1843. The university was named after Charles Frederick Allison, in honour of his gift of land and money. The university was chartered on April 14, 1849.
