Queen's Nursing Science programme c. 1946, connection with Kingston General Hospital. Teenage obliviousness to WWI, later regret for unawareness of others' suffering. Muir House residence, 1946. Classes with ex-service engineering students, comparative interest of their 'what I did last summer' talks. Post-graduation work opportunities. Lack of burning social, political issues on campus; post-war ambition to settle down. Alcohol prohibition on campus. Tame initiation rites.
