Biographical history
Irene (Renie) Marshall came to Wolfe Island from Vancouver, in 1962. In 1974, she opened an antique shop on the island with Mrs. Mildred Walton. She was a member of the Wolfe Island Business and Tourism Association as well as various other organizations. In addition to being a business owner, Renie Marshall was also an author of many poems and stories for children. In 2000, she published a small book on Wolfe Island, entitled "Ganounkouesnot: The Long Island Standing Up". Irene Marshall passed away April 10, 2006.
Custodial history
This material was donated to Queen's Archives in May of 2006, through the good offices of Hendry Connell on behalf of the Wolfe Island Historical Society.
Scope and content
The fonds is comprised of material both collected and created by Irene Marshall pertaining to Wolfe Island. The majority of the fonds consists of newspaper and magazine clippings, community notices, advertising brochures, election materials, festival programs and ferry information that were gathered together by Renie Marshall. A small portion of the fonds consists of manuscript material, and publishing correspondence, for her book 'Ganounkouesnot: The Long Island Standing Up'.
