The fonds consists of correspondence, including a number of hand-sketched Christmas cards; subject files; photographs; sketch books; stamp collection; and slides. The materials illustrate all aspects of Macdonald's career. Photographs of many of his works and reviews of his exhibitions document his long and distinguished career. In addition there is a large collection of slides of many of his works. The correspondence, which includes a considerable amount of material from Robertson Davies, and subject files are invaluable for a study of his life and work. A large collection of personal photographs are also available to document Macdonald's life and that of his closest friends.
