The fonds consists of predominantly textual records created over a 35 year span reflecting the operations of Harvest House Ltd. Publishing and includes correspondence, manuscripts, galleys, book covers, cover art, promotional material, book review clippings, contracts and financial information. The material has been arranged by the archivist into the following series: Published projects; Administrative files; and Unpublished materials.
Broadcast on Radio Station CRCO, Ottawa, on 1934 Feb. 10 dealing with the perspective and interest of Canadian History, and the important role of Archives and archivists in preserving such history.
The Swinburne manuscript, written in ink on blue paper is tipped in a buckram binding along with a letterpress copy of the poem and a pencilled note by Sir Edmund Gosse. Also includes some contemporary correspondence, sales catalogue record, etc pertaining to the provenance of the material.
The collection includes reports of the Department of State from U.S. consular representatives in Montreal. The despatches are replies to consular instructions. It contains reports on a wide range of subjects dealing with economic, political, and social conditions abroad in addition to routine matters. Despatches are sometimes accompanied by enclosures, such as copies of correspondence between consuls and local Government officials, U.S. diplomatic representatives, other consuls, U.S. naval officers commanding naval vessels or squadrons stationed in foreign waters, and U.S. citizens abroad. Despatches also include information on commercial and other regulations, navigation law, exports and imports, duties and tariffs, censuses, cases of U.S. citizens tried abrad and appeals for help, and the reaction of foreign people to U.S. policies.
Items are postcards and photographs showing mines in Timmins and Porcupine, Ontario. The collection includes images of McEnany Mine B, McIntyre Mine, Hollinger Gold Mine, Dome Mine, South Porcupine and Main St. Timmins.
Includes calendars, 1841-1911, Kingston Women's Medical College calendars, 1883/84 - 1893/94, School of Mining annual reports, 1894-1915, and Queen's letters and deeds.
The collection consists of drawings for a cottage on Sunnyside Island, designed by H.J. Hardenberger of New York for S.E. Brown, as well as drawings for the Yacht House and specifications for carpentry and masonry.
