This collection reflects the undertakings and activities of three distinct, yet overlapping, Ukrainian groups in Kingston, Ontario: St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Parish, the Ukrainian Canadian Club of Kingston (a secular offshoot of the Church) and the Canadian League for the Liberation of Ukraine. The collection primarily consists of financial information but also includes newsletters, correspondence, receipts and some membership information for each of the groups identified.
Fonds consists of a Register of lot owners, 1856-1897; cash book, 1853-1883; minutes, 1853-1914; plans; various maps, including the original linen map by Frederick Cornell; assorted deeds; and Burial Registers, arranged chronologically, 1853-1978.
The Walter Seymour Allward papers contain 1 metre of textual records, plus architectural drawings. The main focus of the papers in both media is the Vimy Ridge Memorial, near Arras, France erected to World War I 'missing' Canadians by the Canadian Battlefields Memorial Commission 1922-36, with Walter Allward as architect and sculptor. This imposing monument was the major work in Allward's career but he created several other monuments in Canada before, and after, World War I e.g. Peterborough, Ottawa, Brantford.
Fonds consists of correspondence, sales, designs and other records relating to the operations of Kinnear d'Esterre Jewelers. Includes promotional recordings (advertisements).
Byer's Cancer Cure advertising pamphlet. Published in Markham, Ontario, in 1899 by Daniel Byer outlining causes of cancer as well as testimonials from "patients who have been cured."
This fonds contains a small number of family photographs and newspaper clippings, a certificate of recognition regarding the building of Beth Israel Synagogue on Queen Street, Kingston as well as a list of seat holders at said synagogue, a memo from the employees of the Oberndorffer Cigar Factory on Simon Oberndorffer's retirement as well as an Oddfellows certificate.
The fonds consists of correspondence, student notes, lecture notes, student essays and manuscripts of his published works. There are also records of the many academic conferences Dr. Thorburn attended and helped to organize, committee work he was engaged in and records of his students. Taken together the records of Hugh Garnet Thorburn document his life as a scholar from his undergraduate days to his years as Professor Emeritus at Queen's University's Department of Political Studies.
Fonds consists of records of the Brophy family, including land deeds and lease agreements, wills, correspondence, and other material. Also includes records specific to Mary Margaret Brophy, including her sketchbook and notebook, as well as genealogical research on the Brophy family by Mary Darling.
Fonds consists of newsclippings, articles and research related marine history in Kingston, as well as various aspects of Kingston history, including the Black experience in Kingston and business history. Also includes research on bottles, bicycles, Portsmouth Village, Kingston Penitentiary and all manner of events in Kingston history.
