In addition to the very important correspondence, the large collection of briefs to government agencies and commissions of inquiry, special studies, memoranda and reports make these papers a valuable source for reseachers studying monetary policy, education and the ecomony and public administration in Canada. Also a document on "Queen's in the First Decade of the Century."

There is also a limited amount of correspondence with John Macaulay and Thomas Kirkpatrick regarding various estates, business papers, legal documents pertaining to a number of estates, shares for a variety of companies, in particluar trust and insurance companies, a letterbook (1839-1846) and two small account books (1836-1846).
