This fonds is comprised of is a personal diary kept on a daily basis that commences April 24th 1855 "continued from the other book" ( the other book is not present) aboard HM Steamer Rifleman at Corrientes. It runs to May 7th 1857 where it ends in mid page, with several blank pages remaining. Mackarsie describes the numerous comings and goings of senior officers, visiting officials, civilian visitors and his daily activities. The geographic range of the Ship seems to be along the east coast of South America, mainly in the River Plate estuary with side trips to Rio de Janeirio. The fonds also includes a log of approximately 50 pages, handwritten with entries made in 8 columns, for HMS Spy. The first entry is on Wednesday Sept 26th , 1849 and provides technical information pertaining to wind direction, latitude and longitude, times, and comments about daily sailing observations such as: "observed strange sail, made sail in chase, boarded the French barque Juste of Calais, 11 killed." The last entry for the log is Saturday December 29th of the same year. There are a number of Pay bills (Navy form 86) for Mackarsie also present. Interspersed with the journal, log and pay slips are other items of a more comtemporary vintage. There are several pages of hand written notes, which take the form of an article, speech or radio broadcast which outlines a brief provenance of the material as well as there interest in the historical study of the supression of the slave trade by the British Navy. Also of note is a rough geneaology of the Cock family (wife of Henry Herbert Mackarsie).
Fonds is predominantly comprised of programmes for a variety of theatrical productions staged by the Kinsmen Club of Kingston over a 45 year period (1946-1991). There are also rosters for the club (1947-1977), newsletters (1965-1969) and minutes from the Annual General and Executive meetings of 1970.
Fonds consists of slides and audio relating to the Kingston area. Also includes a report on an investigation into housing in Kingston in the late 19th century, produced through a SSHRC grant (The Housing Question in Kingston, Ontario, 1881-1901).

The fonds consists of minutes of the task force and submissions to the Ontario Council of Regents to transfer nursing education from hospitals in Kingston, Brockville and Cornwall to the St. Lawrence College of Applied Arts and Technlogy, and to the College of Nurses of Ontario to conduct nursing education in Kingston and Cornwall at St. Lawrence College of Applied Arts and Technology. The submissions are very detailed and cover such areas as letters of approval, curriculum, enrolment projections, nursing education advisory committee, personnel, physical resources, clinical resources, and task force details. It contains minutes of the meetings of the Task Forces, with agendas, correspondence, and supplementary material; Report of the Steering Committee, Regional School of Nursing, on the Transition of the Nursing Diploma Program into St. Lawrence College Brockville Campus and Information Regarding the Transition of the Nursing Assistant Programme to St. Lawrence College, Brockville Campus submitted by the Nursing Assistant Centre, Brockville General Hospital; five files containing reports and submissions regarding the Cornwall nursing programs; and submissions to the Ontario Council of Regents and the College of Nurses of Ontario for the Diploma Nursing and Nursing Assistant Programs in Kingston and Brockville with additions and addendums. Dr Jean Hill, Dean of Queen's University's School of Nursing served on the Task Forces for all three locations.
