General note
Chalmers United Church, located at 212 Barrie Street, was built in 1889. The Church, which occupies a triangular city block bounded by Barrie, Clergy and Earl Streets, was named after Doctor Thomas Chalmers, the fors Moderator of the Free Church of Scotland which had broken away from the parent Presbyterian Church in 1843. The Chalmers congregation joined the United Church of Canada in 1925. (Information was taken from page 84 of 'Kingston Splendid Heritage' by Mikos).
