History

Robert Ayre (1900-1980) was born in Napinka, Manitoba. He worked for various newspapers (the Telegram, the Free Press and the Montreal Gazette) and from 1944 to 1949 he was editor of Canadian Art. He later (1950-1970) was Art Critic for the Montreal Star.

Mr. Ayre has also written a number of short stories and is the author of Sketco the Raven (1961), based on West Coast Indian legends.
