William Harrison Hays, American politician and motion-picture executive, was born 5 November, 1879 in Sullivan, Indiana. Hays became active in Indiana political affairs, was chairman of the Republican state committee, and served (1918–21) as chairman of the Republican National Committee. He was (1921–22) Postmaster General under President Harding. As president (1922–45) of the Motion Picture Producers and Distributors of America, he administered the motion-picture moral code (popularly called the “Hays Code”), which was promulgated (1934) by agreement of the leading men of the industry.

Dr. George A. Hayunga was born in Morrisburg, Ontario on January 13 1839. He graduated from Hobart College, Geneva, NY with a B.A in 1860 and a M.A in 1861. Hayunga attended summer courses at Harvard University Medical School in 1861, then attended the fall and winter courses at the University of the City of New York Medical Department (now New York University). During this time he accepted the position of assistant physician to Randall's Island Hospital, where he was employed (while taking classes) until shortly after his graduation in 1862. Hayunga passed the examining Board of Naval Surgeons at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, received his credentials as assistant surgeon for the United States Navy and was commissioned as the surgeon of the U.S.S INO in September 8 1863. He served with the Navy during the American Civil War until he was honorably discharged on October 9 1865. Dr. G.A Hayunga died on March 6 1917.

Allan Ronald Hazelgrove, a Chemical Engineer and librarian at Du Pont, amateur photographer and a bibliographer in Kingston, Ontario, was born 5 May 1912. He obtained his B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering at Queen's University in 1939. He worked for Defence Industries Ltd. in Nobel, Ontario from 1940 to 1944 as a Laboratory Supervisor and development team member developing military explosives. He was transferred to C.I.L's Central Research Laboratory in McMasterville, Quebec in 1944, where he remained until the division of the company into C.I.L. and Du Pont of Canada. In 1954, he was selected to assist in the detail design of the Du Pont's Kingston Research Centre, where he then became Services Group Leader. By 1962, he would devote the majority of his time to the operations of the Research Centre Library.

Hazelgrove also concerned himself with elements of Kingston area history, writing: "(i)n 1960 it occurred to me that a great number of irreplaceable stone buildings were being wrecked or burned or allowed to go to ruin. I decided that there should be a record in the form of at least one picture of each building, whether it had any great architectural significance or not." Hazelgrove also served as a member of
