Politician, merchant, and banker. Militia officer. Came to Canada in 1808. Between 1840 and 1844 was one of four trustees for the establishment of Queen's College. Member of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly, Brockville, Ont., 1844-52.

Montcalm, Louis-Joseph de, Marquis
Montcalm arrived in Canada in 1756, in time to take part in the assaults on Forts Oswego and Frontenac, giving the French control of Lake Ontario. Killed on the Plains of Abraham, 13 Sept. 1759.
Physician, lawyer and politician. Born in England, immigrated to Upper Canada in 1812, serving with the London District Militia during the War of 1812-14 as paymaster. Member of the Executive Council from 1834 until expelled in 1838, and member of the Reform movement inciting the Upper Canada Rebellion. Died in Perth County.
