Patrick J. Conway (ca. 1922-1994) was a life-long resident of Syracuse, New York. He graduated from Niagara University and earned a Master's degree from Syracuse University. He was a lieutenant in the United States Navy during World War II, and elementary school teacher and, after his retirement in 1984, an auditor with the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance.
Conway was an avid collector of hockey memorabilia and statistics from the age of ten. He was a member of the Society for International Hockey Research, and it is through this connection that his collection was donated to the International Hockey Hall of Fame in Kingston.

Ramsay Cook (1931-2016) was the general editor of the Dictionary of Canadian Biography, and a history professor at York University for 25 years. He published widely on political and constitutional history, English-French relations, intellectual and artistic life and on Europeans' explorations and first contacts with native North Americans. His book, The Regenerators: Social Criticism in Late Victorian English Canada, was awarded the Governor General's Award. Cook was both a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and an Officer of the Order of Canada.
