Ebenezar Washburn, a merchant, politician, justice of the peace, and office holder, was born 8 April 1756 in Attleborough (Attleboro), Mass. The son of Simeon Washburn and Jemimah Gary, he married Sarah De Forest, and they had nine children. Upon the death of Sarah, he married Hannah McBride, a widow, in York (Toronto) on 24 Jan. 1803. Washburn died 12 Nov. 1826 in Hallowell (Picton), Upper Canada.

The Honourable John Young was born in Ayr, Scotland in 1811 and emigrated to Canada in 1826. He went into business in Montreal and became chairman of the Board of Harbour Commissioners for the port of Montreal. From 1851 to 1857 he represented Montreal in the Legislative Assembly of Canada and was Commissioner of Public Works from 1851 to 1852. From 1872 to 1874 he represented Montreal in the House of Commons. He died in 1878.
